CS1-12 S1 Ultra Flexible Tile Adhesive
CS1-12 S1 Ultra Flexible Tile Adhesive is a C2TES1 classified ultra-flexible, deformable adhesive designed for wall and floor tiling applications, providing exceptional flexibility with extended 3-hour pot life and high-grab properties for multi-skilled builders working on demanding residential and commercial projects including areas subject to movement.
This water-resistant, deformable, high-grab, non-slip adhesive features extended open time and pot life for larger tiling projects. Suitable for bed thicknesses from 2-6mm and can be used for interior and exterior tiling applications. Mixed with water, it fixes wall and floor tiles including porcelain, ceramic, fully vitrified, large format tiles, mosaics, most natural stone, quarry tiles and brick slips. The S1 deformable classification makes it ideal for substrates subject to limited movement, thermal cycling, and underfloor heating systems. Water and frost resistant, suitable for showers, wet rooms, swimming pools and areas of limited movement. Tiles can be grouted 12-16 hours after fixing. Exceeds BS EN12004 requirements for C2TES1 tile adhesives.

FAQs.
1. What makes CS1-12 tile adhesive different from standard adhesives, and when should I use it?
This adhesive stands out with its ultra-flexible S1 classification, specifically designed for areas with slight movement or variable substrate conditions. Unlike standard adhesives, the CS1-12 offers an extended open time of 30-45 minutes, providing ample working space for precise tile placement. Its longer setting time of 12-16 hours makes it ideal for projects that require more flexibility and careful installation. Whether you’re working on walls or floors, this adhesive adapts to your needs, offering versatility and reliability that sets it apart from traditional tile adhesives.
2. What types of tiles and surfaces can I use this adhesive with?
CS1-12 is a highly versatile adhesive suitable for a wide range of tile types and surfaces. It works excellently with ceramic tiles and has specific applications for porcelain tiles. The adhesive is perfect for both wall and floor applications on a variety of substrates including concrete, cement screeds, plasterboard and existing unglazed tiles. Indoor projects particularly benefit from its flexible nature, allowing for slightly uneven surfaces or areas with minimal movement.
3. How do I calculate how much adhesive I'll need for my project?
Calculating the correct amount of adhesive is essential for a successful tiling project. The CS1-12 provides approximately 2kg per square metre for drywall areas and 4kg per square metre for flooring, exterior and wet areas, with a recommended bed thickness of 2-6mm. We recommend adding an extra 10% to the calculated quantity to allow for cuts, waste and potential errors. For accurate calculations, Dunlop offers an online coverage calculator to help you determine the exact amount needed for your specific project. This approach ensures you’re never short and can complete your tiling job efficiently.
4. What precautions should I take when using this adhesive?
Correct application is the key to achieving the best results with CS1-12 Adhesive. Always check that the ambient temperature is between 5°C and 25°C for optimum performance. Prepare your surface thoroughly by ensuring it’s clean, dry and free of dust and grease. For porous surfaces we recommend priming with Dunlop Multi-Purpose Primer to improve adhesion.
When mixing, use approximately 3 parts powder to 1 part water and allow the mixture to stand for 1-2 minutes after initial mixing. Use the adhesive within 3 hours of mixing and maintain a minimum of 2mm joints between wall tiles and 3mm between floor tiles. These guidelines will help ensure a professional, long lasting finish.
5. Is this adhesive suitable for my specific project?
