CLF-03 Flexible Large Format & Natural Stone Tile Adhesive is a C2F classified rapid-setting, pourable thick-bed adhesive designed for large format floor tiles and natural stone, providing flexible bonds at 3-25mm bed depths for multi-skilled builders working on interior and exterior floor tiling projects.

This rapid-setting, pourable floor tile adhesive is suitable for bed thicknesses from 3-25mm, making it ideal for large format ceramic floor tiles, fully vitrified porcelain, natural stone, and terrazzo. The thick-bed capability allows builders to build up uneven floors before fixing tiles, with adhesive layers up to 25mm thick. The pourable consistency ensures easy application and solid bedding for large format tiles. Water-resistant and suitable for interior and exterior areas including showers and swimming pool bases. Tiles can be grouted just 3 hours after fixing. Exceeds BS EN12004 requirements for C2F tile adhesives.

What are the basic surface requirements for tiling?

FAQs.

1. What makes CLF-03 different from standard tile adhesives?

CLF-03 is a pourable, fast setting adhesive designed specifically for large format tiles and natural stone. Unlike standard adhesives, it can be applied to depths from 3mm to 25mm in a single application, making it ideal for uneven floors or tiles of varying thickness. This allows you to tackle challenging floor tiling jobs without the need for levelling, saving both time and materials.

2. How much CLF-03 will I need for my project?

Coverage depends on tile size and substrate condition. As a guide, a 20kg bag will cover approximately 3.7m² at 3mm bed depth, 2.2m² at 5mm or 1.1m² at 10mm. For deeper applications of 25mm you’ll need approximately 0.5m² per bag. Always allow an extra 10% for waste and uneven surfaces. Planning quantities correctly will help avoid delays mid-job and keep your project on time and within budget.

3. Is CLF-03 suitable for external tiling projects like patios?

Yes, CLF-03 is perfect for outdoor tiling projects. It’s water and freeze resistant, making it ideal for patios, terraces and other outdoor applications. For improved performance in demanding outdoor conditions, consider adding Dunlop Flexible Additive. The adhesive’s ability to adapt to uneven external concrete substrates and its fast 3 hour setting time means you can complete outdoor projects quickly and confidently.

4. What tile types work best with CLF-03 and are there any size limitations?

CLF-03 is specifically designed for large format ceramic and porcelain tiles, natural stone (both translucent and non-translucent) and mosaics. There’s no upper limit to tile size – the larger the tile, the more advantageous CLF-03’s free-flowing consistency becomes. For natural stone, always use the white version with translucent or water sensitive varieties to prevent staining. The adhesive’s ability to accommodate tiles of varying thickness makes it particularly valuable for natural stone installations where thickness can vary significantly.

5. How does CLF-03 reduce risks when installing expensive large format tiles or natural stone?

The pourable consistency of CLF-03 ensures full coverage and eliminates voids under large format tiles, significantly reducing the risk of cracking or de-bonding. For natural stone, the white version prevents staining of translucent or water-sensitive materials. The fast 3 hour setting time reduces the risk of moisture damage to sensitive stone and allows faster project completion. This combination of features helps protect your reputation when working with premium materials and demanding clients.
