Wall Tiling Weights

What are the basic surface requirements for tiling?

FAQs.

1. What are the key benefits of CF-24 compared to other adhesives?

CF-24 is a highly flexible adhesive with an exceptional 5-hour pot life and 30 minute open time, giving you more working time on larger jobs. It has reduced slip for wall tiling and provides excellent grab, making it ideal for both experienced and occasional tilers. Its flexibility accommodates slight movement in substrates, reducing the risk of tiles cracking or de-bonding.

2. Which surfaces can I use CF-24 on?

CF-24 is suitable for most common substrates including concrete, cement:sand screeds, plaster/plasterboard, existing unglazed tiles, and tile backer boards. It works well with underfloor heating systems and can be used in wet areas such as bathrooms, showers, swimming pools and outdoor areas such as patios.

3. How should I prepare different backgrounds before using CF-24?

For cement-based surfaces, ensure they’re clean and free from dust, then prime porous areas with Dunlop Multi-Purpose Primer (diluted 1:1 with water). For plaster walls, prime with undiluted Dunlop Multi-Purpose Primer. For timber floors, use Dunlop ProCover Uncoupling Mat after priming with Dunlop SBR Universal Bonding Agent. Shower areas should be waterproofed first with the Dunlop Shower Waterproofing Kit.

4. What tile types can I use CF-24 with?

CF-24 is ideal for fixing ceramic, porcelain and mosaic tiles. It can be used for both wall and floor installations and is particularly suitable for larger format tiles due to its extended working time. The adhesive is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, making it versatile for a range of tiling projects.

5. How much material will I need and how long before I can grout?

A 20kg bag will cover approximately 5m² on floors or 10m² on walls, depending on the tiling conditions. You can mix and use CF-24 for up to 5 hours at room temperature, allowing you to work at a steady pace. Once applied, wait 24 hours before grouting and allow a full 24 hours before allowing foot traffic on tiled areas.
