Q: What is "airing time" and "working time" for flooring adhesive?
Airing Time: This is the time you should leave the adhesive after application before laying the flooring. For Dunlop FX-5000, this is approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the floor covering and conditions.
Working Time: This is the time during which you can successfully place flooring onto the adhesive after the initial airing time. For FX-5000, you’ll have approximately 10-15 minutes to work with LVT, or slightly longer with other coverings.
Q: How long before I can walk on the newly installed flooring?
Floors laid with Dunlop FX-5000 can be walked on in approximately 2 hours. However, it’s important that the floor is left at room temperature for 48 hours after installation to ensure optimum adhesion.
Q: How much adhesive will I need for my project?
Coverage depends on the type of flooring and the trowel used. As a guide:
- For PVC flooring, LVT, and cushioned vinyl using a TKB A2 trowel: approximately 330g/m² (a 6kg tub covers about 18.2m²)
- For textile flooring with matted or jute backing using a TKB B1 trowel: approximately 380g/m² (a 6kg tub covers about 15.8m²)
- For woven flooring or textiles with rough backing using a TKB B2 trowel: approximately 530g/m² (a 6kg tub covers about 11.3m²)
Always add around 10% to your calculations to account for waste.
Q: Does Dunlop FX-5000 emit strong odours or harmful chemicals?
Dunlop FX-5000 meets the lowest emission standards, making it a safer choice for indoor use. It’s formulated to have minimal odour and low VOC content, which is better for both the installer and building occupants.
Q: Can Dunlop FX-5000 be used with underfloor heating
Yes, Dunlop FX-5000 is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems. The heating should be switched off at least 48 hours prior to installation and should not be switched on again until at least 48 hours after installation has been completed.
