Tile-On-Wood
Tile-on-Wood is a ready-mixed floor tile adhesive designed for use on timber-based substrates. This high-strength, water-resistant adhesive and grout is formulated specifically for fixing ceramic floor tiles to moisture-stable timber boards.
This 2-in-1 ready-mixed adhesive and grout is suitable for use on moisture-stable timber-based boards such as moisture-resistant plywood and tongue and grooved timber flooring. The product provides convenient no-mixing application with excellent bonding properties for timber floor tiling projects. Clean wooden surfaces do not require priming, making installation straightforward. With a 3mm maximum bed depth and 24-hour setting time, Tile-on-Wood provides reliable adhesion for ceramic floor tiles in interior applications. Full strength develops after 7 days. This product is used in accordance with BS 5385 Part 3:2007.
APPLICATIONS
Tile-on-Wood is suitable for:
- Interior floor tiling on timber substrates
- Moisture-resistant plywood overlays
- Tongue and grooved timber floors
- Residential floor tiling projects
- Ceramic floor tile installations
Note: Not suitable for exterior areas, non-porous backgrounds such as vinyl tiles, or fully vitrified and porcelain tiles.
SUITABLE SUBSTRATES
Tile-on-Wood can be applied to:
- Moisture-resistant plywood (minimum 15mm overlay thickness, or 18mm single layer)
- Tongue and grooved timber boards
- Flooring-grade chipboard (securely fixed at 300mm centres)
- Timber floor sheets and boards (must be dry and adjusted to room conditions)
Important: Surfaces must be screwed down, securely fastened and rigid at maximum 300mm centres in both directions. Clean wooden surfaces do not require priming.
COMPATIBLE TILE TYPES
Tile-on-Wood is compatible with:
- Ceramic floor tiles
- Ceramic mosaics
Note: Not suitable for porcelain tiles, fully vitrified tiles, or natural stone. Small-sized tiles are recommended as they put less strain on flexible floors than large format tiles. For other tile types, please contact our technical team for product recommendations.
Coverage
A 15kg tub of Tile-on-Wood provides the following coverage: approximately 0.2m² of tiles per kg for adhesive application. Grout coverage is approximately 0.3kg per m² when using 300mm x 300mm x 9mm tiles with 3mm joints, or approximately 1.93kg per m² when using 20mm x 20mm x 5mm tiles with 3mm joints. Coverage depends on substrate flatness, trowel size and application method.

FAQs.
How should I choose whether to use a ready-mixed or powdered tile adhesive?
It’s an age-old predicament, can I use a ready-mixed tile adhesive, or should I go for the conventional cement-based powdered tile adhesive? The truth lies behind how the product dries. Ready-mixed is generally easier to use as it can be spread straight out of the bucket and does not require water or mixing (hence the name).
